(formerly “Shropshire Highlands Challenge”)
After 2020’s cancellation, we’re back with a great Covid-compliant Challenge
June 6th update: the capped 400 rider limit for 2021 has now been reached so booking is now closed.
Founded and organised by Danny Mason for 25 years, the iconic Challenge is now organised by Ludlow Cycling Club.
Approximately 65 hilly miles, with catering and toilets provided at stops en route.
The Challenge is not a race – no tags, timings or numbers – and how you ride is up to you: we normally attract both young and fast club riders and older once-a-year tourers. With ca. 1,500 metres (5,000) feet of climbing and some challenging lanes in the remotest and wildest corners of Shropshire, to complete it you’ll need some strength, stamina, bike handling ability and not to be carrying too many excess kilograms. There is no road signage: you can either download the route in advance into your GPS device or print out the map and route card to take with you. A great but tough day for all types.
After costs, all event proceeds in 2021 will go to Shropshire Wildlife Trust, who do so much to look after the beauty and wildlife of the terrain we ride through.
